Tuxedo
A tuxedo is simply a matching based fabric for the jacket and the pants typically with highlighted accents in satin or grosgrain. If your goal is to be formal in the look and feel of your wedding and pictures – this would be a great choice for you.
Dinner Jacket
This is typically chosen for weddings where the groom and bride want to be tastefully expressive when they present themselves. Dinner jackets have grown in popularity over the last two decades. In fact, recently they rival tuxedos as a groomsmen’s solid choice for their special day.
A dinner jacket and formal pant consist of a jacket made with a fancy base material, typically done in a color that is non-black and quite often has a texture or pattern to it. It is then typically accented contrasting satin or grosgrain. The formal pants are done in a contrasting but complementary color to the dinner jacket fabric you choose, most likely black, navy, or a shade of grey. The formal pant will be accented on the waistband, out-seam stripe, and on the front and back pocket piping usually in black satin or grosgrain.
Formal Suit
This would be a great choice if your goal is to increase your daily suit rotation for life after the wedding. This is a good choice if you do not have many needs for traditional formal wear and feel the need to add another great suit to your rotation that would help you capitalize on your wardrobe investment. This also is a great choice if your venue is a destination wedding such as a tropical beach location where the bride and groom are being married on the beach.
